Bill, was Rubtsov’s play deemed worse then Vorobyev? I thought Vorobyev had a good first game and then his played dropped off, and Rubtsov was sort of holding his own but nothing stood out either way.

Maybe their level of play is pretty similar and they want German to get more all around minutes and hence the move?

Curious about your thoughts here.

I believe they just wants to give rubstov a taste and see what he can do. U less he was lights out think the plan was to send him back down

7 mins a night, clearly in the "taste" column.
Hard to stand out with a couple shifts per period.

@MarcD Like others have said, this is in the best interest of the player. Development requires icetime and you dont get that as a 4th line player. I believe the consensus with Misha is that what you see is what you get or maybe they will just be swapping guys in and out in a rotation to get then NHL time. You have to remember these guys get no special teams play up in the NHL which is I believe is important for an NHL player. You wont survive long in the NHL if you cant at least get on the PK. If you think about the Flyers everyone aside from Carsen and Misha play special teams. Well.... and Stewart if you count him

Neither guy has much of a chance to stand out on the 4th-line. Would be nice to see what they're capable of with better players before any judgments are made.

Also slim on options. Frost isn’t playing 4 th line minutes, Andre off maybe, bunnaman looked descent but I’m sure could use some more seasoning, kase is a stretch for nhl center. Already have a few rookies up. German was limited last year and it seems like they are putting him in positions to succeed instead of rushing him. Couple games up. Work on this and that and he will be back.

Voroybyev is frustrating at times. Has the tools but doesn’t push hard enough. Maybe he will adjust, maybe he will show enough signs that he will be involved in a trade or what I think is the best chance. He will continue with what he is doing and will be back in Russia in 2 years.

3 games is all it takes to prove consistency? Way to go Misha!!

Chuckles is a clown

Side note - is it a smart move to start Hart against Price? He got shelled last season going against his idle. For those who will scream he is more mature, see the game VS the Oilers this season. Playing in (close to) his hometown. Maybe the kid needs a bit of sheltering

I forgot that the Phantoms are on NHL Network tonight. Tuned in just in time to see Criscuolo score.

As I have said many times before, I think Twarynski should be a 3rd line winger and Raffl on the 4th line. I know that Raffl has gotten moved around from 1st line to 4th line, but I think he's best suited as a 4th line winger. He puts in a good effort on the ice, he has decent size at 6' 200 lbs, but there's been so many times that he just couldn't put the puck in the net unless it was an open net tip in. Twarynski is a hard working rookie that has a better scoring touch and will add a little more speed to the 3rd line.

Recently some Flyers fans were saying how they are comparing modern day Niskanen to Dejardins from years ago. Before everybody starts screaming, please be advised that the comparison between Rico and Niskanen is that both of them came to the Flyers as veteran D-men that were calm with the puck under pressure and how many times they bailed out the younger Flyers D-men when the rookies ( and some veterans ) made mistakes. I am personally very happy with getting rid of Gudas and getting Niskanen. OK, now that I posted this, let the screaming begin. LOL

Dunno about Twarynski having a better scoring touch than Raffl. That kinda remains to be seen.

Gudas is playing pretty well for the Caps right now and is still serially underrated.

With that said, he's not a guy you want on the top-pairing. Niskanen isn't a perfect fit there, but he's a decent placeholder for now.
